Selena Gomez wore a white sequin wedding dress to the Emmys on Monday night, proving that even the most extravagant dress can be worn to multiple occasions. Skipping the red carpet, the “Only Murders in the Building” star headed straight to the stage to present the Emmy Awards for Variety Talk Series with her costars Steve Martin and Martin Short. While all three stars were nominated for their roles on the mystery-comedy show, our attention was entirely on Gomez’s glittery wedding gown from Rotate.
Constructed from bright white polyester, the halter dress bears a striking resemblance to the retro 16Arlington halter dress with white feather trim that Gomez wore to her 30th birthday party in July. What set the design apart from the rest of her outfit were delicate side slits that went up to her mid-thighs and sparkling white sequins that cascaded down to her strappy platform heels. Styled by Kate Young, Gomez paired the dress with diamond and emerald jewelry by Boucheron.
While some viewers pointed out that Gomez’s slip was bunched up under her dress, the actor gracefully handled the wardrobe malfunction and continued performing with her “OMITB” costar.
The “Calm Down” co-singer, who recently debuted a Y2K hairstyle on TikTok, has been rocking the corset trend for the past few weeks, another shout-out debut. But wedding bells or not, her floor-length evening gown might be our favorite nod to the 2000s.
