Old Navy Ultralight Bolero Cardigan Sweater I’m an editor review

If you’ve stumbled upon my reviews before, you’re well aware that I’m a big fan of athletes. Few things make me happier than a stylish and functional pair of leggings or an easy-style bodysuit, and I’m *always* looking for comfortable new additions to my wardrobe. So when I noticed the Old Navy Long-Sleeve Ultralight Rib-Knit Bolero Cardigan Sweater ($25) featured in the brand’s new arrivals section, I was intrigued to say the least. To be completely honest, this bolero sweater felt like a risk to me. The cropped style brought back memories of the cropped style I wore in middle school (which made me cringe), but I loved how the model looked: chic and modern. I added it to my cart in my usual size, medium, pale shade of blue “Silver Sage.” My honest thoughts, go ahead.

What I love about this bolero sweater

It’s made of 62 percent polyester, 33 percent rayon and five percent spandex, a trio of materials that’s equal parts soft and stretchy. It’s perfect for slipping on when you need a little something extra to keep your arms warm — or to bring with you when you’re not sure if you’ll get cold. I gave it a test for a flight and decided it was brilliant for travel. It took up virtually no space in my carry-on and came in clutch when my arm broke into goosebumps on my intense air-conditioned flight.

What is worth noting

I am obsessed with how comfortable this bolero sweater is. If you’re totally new to the silhouette, this is a super cropped jacket. But after experiencing it, I’d say it’s more accurately described as a cardigan, since it’s more relaxed than structured, reminiscent of a lightweight cardigan.

At the time of writing, this sweater has no rating below four stars, which doesn’t surprise me because it’s so comfortable. However, one thing to note is that the sleeves are a bit longer than I expected, but I found the thumb-hole cuffs to ensure a comfortable fit.

Who is this bolero sweater good for?

This bolero sweater is a stylish and functional option to slip on when you want to keep your arms warm without committing to a bulky extra layer.

  • This bolero sweater comes in a total of three colors.
  • It is available in sizes XS–4X.
  • To keep it in tip-top shape, machine wash it cold and tumble dry low.
