Meghan Merkel’s return to London has so far been marked by a stylish look and an emotional outburst towards Princess Diana. Back in town for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the Duchess of Sussex continues to turn heads at every event. A day after channeling the Princess of Wales in a sophisticated off-the-shoulder navy outfit in Trooping the Color, Merkel shared another regal-style moment while joining the National Service of Thanksgiving with her husband, Prince Harry. She arrived at St. Paul’s Cathedral dressed in a white Dior Haute couture, primarily a belted coat.
Merkel’s appearance is probably another subtle tribute to Princess Diana, who wore an all-white outfit for several events. Most notably, she chose a monochromatic suit like Merkel for her appearance at the Buenos Aires airport in Argentina. On that occasion, Diana carried Lady Dior’s bag and expressed her condolences to Dior in full display. In fact, the Princess of Wales promoted that handbag as an essential accessory in the 90’s, and she owned multiple slip-on dresses designed by John Galliano for Dior. Following in the footsteps of Princess Diana, Merkel wore several pieces from the fashion house for her recent look, including short gloves, a wide-brimmed Stephen Jones hat for Dior, and a pair of white satin pumps. Her hair was styled in a smooth bun, allowing for the full look of her diamond earrings and soft glam makeup.
Next to him, Prince Harry looked just as beautiful in a suit decorated with medals from his military service. They both deal with their confidence as they choose to embark on their play activities. Also present were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, respectively, wearing a black suit with embellished medals and a soft-yellow midi dress and a wide-brimmed hat.
