During a visit to Project Fearless in Amsterdam earlier this year, Meghan Merkel demonstrated the basics of her work attire. Merida Miller, a non-profit organization founded in 2019 to equip girls and non-binary kids with the tools to succeed, organized an entrepreneurial course and Merkel served as a guest trainer. The Archewell founder has brought a lot of looks to a good blazer – from wearing the line of friend and designer Serena Williams in 2018 to the Valentino power suit she wore at the Invictus Games. And her latest blazer dress is another one to add to her collection.

Merkel, 40, made an appearance wearing Chloe’s classic tailored jacket while naked, with smooth pockets on either side. For a modern touch she layered it over a black krunk and leather skinny pants. Author and philanthropist Paul Andrew Pompey and his wedding ring stack, a Cartier love bracelet, Princess Diana Cartier’s tank watch and a Cartier Just Un Clou collar necklace with some of her finest, everyday jewelry accessories. He added stackable rings from Canadian jeweler Maison Birks.

The look immediately reminded me of Princess Diana’s solo overseas trip to Nepal in 1993, where she was seen greeting the crowd to sign a grant from the British Red Cross to help with agriculture and irrigation projects after her separation from Prince Charles. The Princess of Wales opted for a minimalist look, paired a camel blazer with a cream V-neck vest and accessory with a watch and hoop earrings. Further proof of Merkel and Diana’s business-casual aesthetic skills.

This is not the first time in recent history that Merkel has paid tribute to the style of her late mother-in-law. He wore pinstripe pants on his daughter Lily’s birthday, much like the pair owned by Diana. She also chose a monochromatic suit from Dior for the National Service of Thanksgiving, reminiscent of Diana Versace’s appearance when she arrived at Buenos Aires Airport in 1995.
