Meghan Merkel joins Trooping the Color to start the Platinum Jubilee Weekend in England, also known as Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday parade. This is Merkel’s first royal appearance in two years since leaving the UK in March 2020 to move in with Prince Harry. The 40-year-old writer, editor and lawyer is known for sporting such sophisticated and clear color palettes that Princess Diana often wore. Diana wore navy-and-white suits for a number of events in the late 80’s and early 90’s, which were accessory with matching hats, many of which were carefully designed by Philip Somerville.
Merkel’s look – finished with a delicate gold ring and which looks like a pair of drop earrings – compliment certain images of Diana, who was known for her sleek outfits with two-tone hats for a stylish and modern royal fashion.
Merkel recently channeled Diana at Prince Harry’s polo match in Santa Barbara, CA on May 22, wearing a polka dot saline blouse with white shorts and dotted black heels. It felt like a modern entertainment with polka dot shirts and gray skirts on a Cirque du Soleil show with Princess Harry and William in 1990.
