Keke Palmer gave the Y2K aesthetic a moment at New York Fashion Week. While celebrities like Anne Hathaway gave a nod to iconic pop culture moments, and designers like Christian Siriano returned us to the days of old Hollywood glamour, Palmer fully embraced the early 2000s style influence in a cropped denim jacket, a midi skirt with a fringe. -A pair of low-rise UGG boots with high front slits, and platform soles. She styled the look with small hoop earrings and an effortlessly chic bun on top of her head.
Inspired by the era of rhinestone flip phones and plastic choker necklaces, Palmer’s outfit was a welcome dose of nostalgia at fashion week. The dark denim jacket, buttoned just above the “No” actor’s midriff, featured two breast pockets and large sleeves. Sleeves draped well over her arms and her high-waisted skirt had a thigh slit that went halfway down, a staple of early Aghtan style.
After admiring Palmer’s denim-on-denim look, we can’t help but be itching for a pair of her elevated UGGs, the perfect complement to the retro ensemble. The shoe’s predecessor — the classic UGG boot — is responsible for countless moments in 2000s fashion history, but these classic ultra mini platforms may be our new secret weapon for all future fall outfits.
Earlier in the week, Palmer wore a sun-yellow ribbed minidress to the Michael Kors show at NYFW. She paired the canary-yellow look with a matching coat and a pair of crystal-embellished open-toed heels.
