“Who am I wearing? I’m wearing music,” international rap sensation Jack Harlow said when asked about his dapper all-white appearance. The “first class” rapper returned to his old stumping ground in Louisville, KY to celebrate the famous 148th Kentucky Derby, and film footage for his next single, “Churchill Downs” featuring Drake.
Harlow joins stars such as “Sheets Creek” actress Jennifer Robertson, Melissa Joan Hart, “The Talk” ‘s Amanda Cluts and 90s boy band icon Joey Fatton walking the red carpet ahead of the expected race.
The Kentucky Derby is one of the oldest sports establishments in the country. For over 140 years, “The Run for the Roses” has captured the hearts of racing fans and Kentucky natives (like Harlow) alike. People from all over the world bet on various live tracks and online sports books, tuning in to watch the world’s leading jockeys and horses across the Churchill Downs track.
For equestrian enthusiasts, the race may be about descendants, but culturally, it is an event known for its distinctive fashion. Think bold-patterned suits and pastels apart, flowing dresses, lace and floral prints and, of course, ornate hats and fascinators. “I’m excited to see the fashion and all the wide-brimmed hats,” said Eli Smith, the current Miss USA.

This year, for the first time, the Kentucky Derby has partnered with official luxury automotive partner BMW North America. Reflecting the same fashion, BMW took a huge on-site footprint with an interactive product display, a 360-degree photo booth and a culinary activation (The Ultimate Macaron Bar) to celebrate the next generation of the BMW 7 Series and the fully electric BMW i7. Both cars have luxury and style with merino leather and cashmere seats and even Swarovski crystals in the upper lighting unit. “The Kentucky Derby is an iconic luxury event that shares many of BMW’s brand values, including performance, memorable experience and the best hospitality,” said Broderick McKinney, Regional Vice President, Central Region, BMW, North America, in a press release.
