Kate Middleton continues to launch one fashion moment after another in celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s latest Platinum Jubilee event. On Friday, the Duchess of Cambridge took out Emilia Weeksted’s pastel-yellow outfit to attend the Thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. The long-sleeved, medium-length dress has a slight sewing at the waist and a crosscase detail.
The future queen’s consort has been used in conjunction with a Philip Tracy hat that includes a yellow floral appliqu ব on the left side of the angular ear. According to People magazine, she wore the Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings, which are said to have come from the Queen’s own jewelry collection. Middleton’s other accessories included a cream-colored clutch and gloves and nude suede heels.
It would seem that the Duchess of Cambridge is honoring her late mother-in-law with the yellow Emilia Weeksted number, considering that Princess Diana often wore this color during her many trips throughout the 80’s and 90’s. When she toured Australia and New Zealand with Prince Charles in 1983, yellow, for example, was one of the favorite colors worn by the late princess. Notably, Weekstead is a New Zealand-born fashion designer currently based in London. Coincidence? We don’t think so.
This summer yellow companion is Middleton’s latest style move associated with the Queen’s ongoing Platinum Jubilee celebrations, marking her 70 years of reign (she was crowned in 1952). Earlier this week, the Duchess wore a crisp, white double-breasted blazer-style dress with pronounced shoulders, sharp lapels and a knee-length skirt by Alexander McQueen. It was another re-wear moment for Middleton, who previously wore the same design to the G7 leaders’ reception in June 2021.
For that look, she again chose an elegant navy-and-white hat from Philip Tracy. Her hair, styled in a curved knot, was pulled back, revealing diamond and sapphire earrings that paid homage to the late Princess Diana, the owner of those same pieces. (The Princess of Wales often wore them, especially at the 1996 Met Gala.) Middleton complemented the earrings with a matching necklace for the occasion.
