Eleven’s style has certainly evolved in each season of Netflix’s “Stranger Things”. Since she first appeared on our screens as a telepathic hero with a golden heart, Millie Bobby Brown has easily pulled off every distinctive trend of the 80’s, shifting from rolled denim to AG Shaquette to animated graphic tee. Now, we’ve reached the fourth season, and according to costume designer Amy Paris, Eleven’s closet is even more confusing than ever.
“Eleven is a mix of Joyce, Jonathan and Will’s variety of outfits and hand-me-downs,” Paris told Popsuger via email. “Max (Sadie Sync) is no longer with Eleven to help him with what contemporary fashion would be like at the time, so he’s a bit unfamiliar and confused with his new style.”
At Lenora Hills School in California, where she goes with “Jane Hopper,” Eleven’s clothing is all over the place. Paris took inspiration from Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Patty Green from the 1980s sitcom “Square Pegs”. Like Green, Eleven is having trouble getting into his new high school and trying to figure out which cycle he should join. Her dress helps to convey that identity crisis.
Season 4’s eleven wardrobes range from colorful pinafore dresses to oversized flannels. As far as accessories go, she still wears her classic Reebok sneakers, although we can now see much less scratches and suspenders.
Ahead, get a complete breakdown of the Eleven’s style transformation from the first season to now, guided by the original information from Paris.
