Billy Porter brought Avant-Gard to the BET Award. The actor was spotted at the June 26 awards show in Los Angeles wearing several statement-making outfits by Rick Owens, paired with a gray krunk knit top bell sleeve and a matching skirt featuring sharp fine shoulders, a train and vertical seams. Lucite heels with porter platform boots and a grille detail on the toes, complemented the look by Owens as well.
Porter has become known for his dramatic style. At the 2019 Met Gala, she wore The Blondes’ All-Gold “Sun God” outfit and at the latest American Music Awards she wore a blue butter suit and an umbrella hat. Porter inspired many memes when he appeared at the Baja East hat with a mechanical fringe at the 2020 Grammy Awards, which he will reveal later that Billy Hilsa was inspired by the Gucci scarf he wore at an awards show earlier.
Porter is very open about experimenting with different silhouettes and challenging traditional gender expectations. She told Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show” in 2019, “We’ve gone beyond the notion that wearing pants is a problem – thank you Katherine Hepburn. Women wearing pants are strong, it’s strong, everyone accepts it and it’s involved. With patriarchy.” It’s about being a man. The moment a man wears clothes, it’s disgusting. ” Porter added, “I’m not doing that anymore. I’m done with it. I’m a man wearing a dress, and if I like to wear a dress, I’m going to wear one.”
