For me, part of growing up involves growing into a sense of style that truly feels right to me, not one that just aligns with the latest fashion fad or TikTok’s ever-rotating aesthetic trends. My latest style revelation is exactly how much I discovered really It’s worth being comfortable. While my younger iterations were committed to heeled sandals, cinched blouses and criminally tight skinny jeans, these days, I’m all about breezy and effortless fashion that looks as good as it looks — think blousy dresses, loose mom jeans and, of course, a major sneaker or two.
While I’m by no means a sneakerhead, I do appreciate the go-anywhere nature of the shoe, which allows me to maximize my style and reduce my suspiciously large shoe stock in the process (less is more, because I’m learning!) Until very recently, though, I really The only casual sneakers I relied on were my trusty Nike Air Force 1s. And while the shoe is, in many ways, still one of my go-to closet staples, I found myself itching to invest in another pair of sneakers that would offer similar comfort but with more updates and freshness. Naturally, when I discovered that Allbirds — aka the internet-favorite brand known for its notoriously comfortable and durable shoes — was debuting a brand new sneaker that was literally designed for everyday use, I knew I had just found my new sneaker style. The fountain.
Enter the Allbirds Canvas Pacers Sneakers ($110) — the brand’s newest lifestyle sneaker, debuting today, featuring a unique look made with curves and a wavy midsole, plus a composition that features a variety of innovative (and durable!) materials. I got a chance to test out the style for myself and have already dubbed it the perfect everyday shoe. Read on to hear my honest thoughts!
What I love about these Allbirds sneakers
A big highlight for me is the lightweight nature of this sneaker. I know chunky shoes are all the rage right now, but at least for me, I value having sneakers that are durable, protective, yet light enough to be used for all-day wear. My Nike Air Force 1s have long been my go-to, but these Allbirds Pacers are slowly becoming the style I reach for the most — especially when I’m running errands, anticipating a busy day outside, or just hoping I’ll be on my feet a lot.
I also love that they have a low-rise heel silhouette that makes the style even more breathable and easy to move around. High heel styles often tend to feel more claustrophobic around the ankle, which is not the case with these sneakers. As a brand, Allbirds is also committed to sustainability, so I appreciate the fact that these shoes are made with an organic cotton material, with a soft and light lining made from the brand’s 62 percent plant material and 38 percent recycled polyester. A midsole made of sugarcane-based green EVA and a natural rubber sidewall and outsole. That sneakers look nice, like, And Made for good? We love to see it.
What is worth noting
The biggest thing to acknowledge here is that this Allbirds sneaker is only available for purchase in full sizes. Depending on the style, my shoe size usually ranges from 9.5 to 10, so I was initially concerned about the correct size to order. Would a size 9 be too snug? Would 10 be too heavy? I ended up going with a US women’s size 10 and was pleasantly surprised by the fit. I don’t find the shoe too tight, but it’s snug enough that I feel supported enough when walking in the sneaker. All that to say, if you normally wear a half size shoe, this sneaker doesn’t offer many extended sizes worth mentioning – and I’d personally recommend sizing up.
Another thing to keep in mind is the color. I usually lean towards white or neutral-colored sneakers because they’re more versatile and also much easier to style with everyday outfits than an overtly colored or busy sneaker. With that, I tested this style in natural white. Although Pacers are incredibly sleek and cool, the color of the style tends to change (or at least look different) depending on sun exposure, as evidenced by these photos. I don’t mind it – if anything, it feels like I’ve got two different shoe styles in one. But if you’re looking for a strictly white sneaker in your wardrobe, it might be worth investing in a different or less-abstract shoe.
Who are these Allbirds sneakers best for?
Sneakerheads, athletes, and even those who want all-day comfort in their shoes will love and appreciate this everyday sneaker from Allbirds. Unlike the brand’s other athletic styles, the Pacers aren’t necessarily meant to serve as long-lasting running or outdoor shoes, but that doesn’t make them any less comfortable or durable. Whether you’re anticipating a busy travel season, navigating a particularly long work commute, or just need a go-to sneaker to wear, the Allbirds Canvas Pacers will make the perfect addition to anyone’s wardrobe — especially for fall.
