Abercrombie and Fitch Essential Scoopneck Tank I Editor’s Review

Abercrombie and Fitch Woman in White Scoopneck Tank Top

These days, I’m physically and emotionally drawn to Abercrombie & Fitch, even more so than I was as a middle schooler in the late 2000s. Like many, I responded with horror to the brand’s dramatic transformation, but when I did, I became — and remain — completely engrossed in the hype, A&F is no stranger to the TikTok haul. That doesn’t mean I’m one to drop a casual $2,000 on brand name stuff, but I’m going for casual yet sophisticated basics. And while I wouldn’t normally buy a silhouette in different colors, the brand changed that for me with its Essential Scoopneck Tank ($21, originally $25). Ahead, find out why I have so many in my closet.

What I like about this tank

For starters, I’m a sucker for ribbed clothing, which is why this tank top initially caught my eye. The second reason is its name. Dubbed the *necessary* scoopneck tank, I was curious if this tank top would actually lend itself to everyday wear. After all, it is difficult To find high-quality basics, and I hoped it would fill the hole in my closet for the tank top I felt my best.

Verdict: It’s worth the hype. It’s made of 95 percent cotton and five percent elastane, a combination that makes it perfectly soft and stretchy. It’s a slim but not too tight fit that’s casually sexy. (And no, I can’t see my seamless bra through it!) It looks chic worn on its own or under a jacket. All the reasons mentioned above are why I ordered it in every monochromatic color. It checks all my boxes — I’m obsessed.

What is worth noting

This tank top has mostly high ratings, but some reviewers have mentioned that they returned it because they didn’t expect it to be so short. On me (I’m 5’9″, by the way), it lands just above my belly button, which I like because I almost always wear high-waisted bottoms. A few others didn’t expect it to be low cut. I’m personally into this style. Fans and find it really flattering. It’s not very low cut by any means, but that doesn’t mean you can’t see a little cleavage. (IMO, a little cleavage never hurt anyone.)

Who is this tank top good for?

This tank top is a versatile, high-quality wardrobe basic that’s appropriate — and stylish — for every season, whether you team it with shorts and sandals in the summer months or jeans and a cardigan when it’s colder.
